Friday, I’m in LOVE…

16 Dec

…with The Art of Racing in the Rain
I’m currently reading this book by Garth Stein for my book club.  I’m about half way through and love it!  Check it out at your local bookstore. Also, apparently it’s going to be turned into a movie?  I have a feeling it’ll be a Lifetime movie……my favorite.  *Liz*

…with KELSEYYYY!!!!
My sister-in-law arrives on Sunday night.  Our plans for Monday include (but are not limited to) fort building, snugglefest, eating Christmas cookies, drinking peppermint hot chocolate and watching movies.  Mostly Christmas movies, but we will absolutely be watching Step Brothers.  CAN’T WAIT!!! *Liz*

with being on vacation!!
I have been in having an amazing time in Santa Barbara since Tuesday visiting my mom, aunt, and brother and today I am headed up North to San Francisco to visit one of my very best friends, Sara. So. Excited. *Katie*

Hostess Gifts

13 Dec

Post by: Katie

We are knee-deep in the holiday season! With all of the holiday parties that are happening I thought I would put up a little post of quick and cute hostess gift ideas. It takes a lot of work to plan a party so a little gift of appreciation is always a very nice gesture. Because it is also the holiday season, and almost everyone is on a budget, these are some ideas that don’t break the bank.

Trader Joe’s Bulb Kit
Cute little pots with something to look forward to growing!

Key Bottle Openers
This fancy little key is available at Cost Plus World Market.

Wine or Bottle of Alcohol
You can’t really go wrong here. Bring it by itself of dress it up with a little raffia, ribbon or wrap it up in fabric!

Something Sweet
Fudge! I made this last year and added crunched up candy cane pieces on top. I found little snowflake shaped white dishes from Michael’s and put fudge squares in for little gifts.

Not the fudge I made, but very similar, and another cute idea!

Gift for a Relaxing Next Day
If you’re bringing a hostess gift to someone you are visiting this is a great idea, that way once you leave they can take time to relax and think about how much they miss you already!

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Trio

Favorites from the Weekend!

Hanging out with my Dad
Friday night I went over to my Dad’s house and we made a delicious concoction for dinner (it was something he thought of and he is really great in the kitchen so it turned out amazing), talked, and watched Elf for the first time this winter! *Katie*

My Dad and me, Pocahontas

Pine Party
Some of my sorority sisters got together at Grazie in Old Town Scottsdale for our (kind of) annual Pine Party. We had lunch and did a white elephant gift exchange, so fun. *Katie*

Weekend Trips to San Diego
We took an overnight trip this weekend to visit some friends and pick up our annual ornament from the Hotel del Coronado. Even though our trip was short I had the best time listening to Dave and all his fraternity brothers reminisce about life during “I-Week” (initiation week) and all the trips they’ve taken to Europe and Asia.  You wouldn’t believe some of the shenanigans they got themselves into. *Liz*

A Touch of Christmas

8 Dec

Post by: Katie

I haven’t gone all out for Christmas decorating this year but I have added little touches around my place to make it feel like the holidays!

I replaced the black & white balls I normally have in this coffee table bowl with some glittered pine cones and ornaments.

I got a tiny Poinsettia, that was already glittered, from Trader Joe’s.

With Liz’s expert help I put up my Christmas tree!!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!
